Introduction

Overview
The AFRIFF Film & Content Market (AFCM) is a premier industry event designed to bridge filmmakers, content creators, agents, buyers, investors, and global stakeholders. As the African film and media industry continues to grow exponentially, AFCM serves as a crucial marketplace to showcase talent, foster partnerships, and drive economic growth in the sector.
It is affiliated with the 14 year old Africa International Film Festival.

Mission & Objectives

  • To create a dynamic marketplace for the intersection of advertising and filmmaking/content creation that will span across multiple continents.

  • To attract investors, distributors, and broadcasters to engage with African narratives.

  • To support the development of high-quality content through co-production between countries, i.e. India + Nigeria.

  • To create a physical space for the sale of content, films, technology and hardware.

Why Nigeria

The Heart of African Cinema
Nigeria, home to Nollywood—the second-largest film industry in the world by volume—provides the perfect backdrop for AFCM. With a growing middle class, increasing internet penetration, and a global appetite for African stories, Nigeria is the epicenter of film and digital content on the continent.

Strategic Advantages

  • Strong Market Growth: Nollywood generates over $1 billion annually

  • High Content Demand: Rising interest in African stories globally via Netflix, Showmax, and Amazon Prime Video.

  • Government Support: Nigerian film industry benefits from policies and initiatives encouraging growth.

Talent & Creativity

A rich ecosystem of actors, directors, producers, composers and digital innovators.

  • With more than 200 million people of African descent estimated to live outside the African continent, and another 1.4 billion plus people living within, there is no denying that the African diaspora continues to develop as a demographic that will soon make up over 25% of the global population.
